The Publication Awards program of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE) recognizes professional excellence in research contributing to the advancement of knowledge in areas related to food, agriculture and resource economics. The Publication Awards program of the EAAE includes three annual awards:

  1. the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article
  2. the Research Discovery Award
  3. the Policy Contribution Award in Honour of Giovanni Anania

Recipients of Awards will be presented at the fortcoming EAAE triennial Congress.

Outstanding ERAE Journal Article

For the Outstanding ERAE Journal Article Award, all articles published in the Review in the last calendar year are automatically eligible. The ERAE Editorial Board selects the recipient; there is therefore no formal nomination procedure.

Research Discovery Award

The research must be a significant contribution to the field of knowledge in any of the areas of agricultural economics. The work should demonstrate excellence in research and may deal with conceptual as well as empirical analysis of a relevant issue. For the Research Discovery award outstanding publications (articles or other publications) can be nominated by members of the Association, including self-nominations. The nomination process is triggered by a Call for nominations and covers publications that became publically available in the year prior to the call being made. The Award recipients are proposed by the Publication Awards Selection Committee.

Policy Contribution Award in honour of Giovanni Anania

After the sudden death of our President Giovanni Anania on July 15, 2015, the EAAE board decided to rename one of the EAAE Publication Awards in memory of Giovanni who contributed strongly to establish and implement the EAAE Fellow and Publication Awards. The Policy contribution award was therefore renamed the Policy contribution Award in Honour of Giovanni Anania. This Award recognizes an outstanding publication contributing ex ante to, or analysing ex post, policy decisions. The purpose of the Award is to recognize excellence and encourage interest in applied economic analysis that can provide timely and relevant information for more effective policy debate and decision making. For the Policy Contribution Award in Honour of Giovanni Anania, outstanding publications (articles or other publications) can be nominated by members of the Association, including self-nominations. The nomination is triggered by a Call for nominations and covers publications that became publically available in the year prior to the call being made. The Award recipients are proposed by the Publication Awards Selection Committee.

When the call ‘nominations for Publication Awards’ is open it is visible on the EAAE homepage and will be published in the Newsletter.
